Congratulations to the winner of the 'Bill McIntosh' trophy for 2009 - Ryan Langdon from Darnley Bowling Club.

Ryan skipped his team of Anne McKechnie, Duncan McLaren and Jimmy Young to victory in the final against

Mark McDonald ( Cardonald ), Bart Connolly, Ena Breingan and Alan McKechnie.

Thanks to the all the 'Juniors'  who took part and made it a great day for everyone concerned.

Special mention must also go to Bill McDonald and Alex Little for their all their hard work in organising the competition

You will find some pictures of the day on the 'Media Gallery'.

31st Aug 2009

Darnley B.C. held its annual 'Junior Pairs' competition this weekend, and Cardonald had three teams competing.

Thomas Kennedy and Ryan Devlin, Adam and Sean Carlton along with Mark & Greg McDonald.

32 teams compete on the Saturday and if you qualify into the last 16 then you return on the Sunday.

It was a good weekend all round for the teams that participated and Cardonald  had  two teams in the last 16

Adam, Sean, Mark and Greg.  It was particularly good for Mark and Greg of  Cardonald BC who reached the final.

The semi-finals line up  was Darnley v Crookston and Cardonald v Pollokshaws which resulted in a

Darnley V Cardonald final.

It was a great game but unfortunately there has to be a first and second.

Darnley ran out  eventual winners 7-4 and this is the first time that the hosts have won this competition.

So congratulations to them and very well done to all the teams who took part.

Report from Bill Mcdonald.

22nd Aug 2009

Many congratulations to Sean Carlton on winning the Junior Championship for 2009 and commiserations to the runner up Thomas Kennedy.

Very well done to both of you on getting to the final and playing on the 'Club's Official Finals Day'

19th July 2009

It is getting to that time of the season when everything is catching up with us.
In the next few weeks we will be holding the Junior Championship

This will be a chance for our new Junior members to compete in a competition, and the finalists in the championship will play on the Club's main finals day which is Saturday 22nd of August 2009.

We will also hold a balloted pairs and a triples tournament on two consecutive Saturdays.

There is also another important date that you have to put in your diary and that is the Bill McIntosh (trophy) which will be held on Sunday 13th September 2009.
That is when the Juniors of each team become the skips and have a team of  two or three adults

If you think that you are confident enough as a Junior member of Cardonald BC there is an  aggregate game played on a Wednesday night where the juniors and adults of the men and ladies section participate in a game of bowls which is helpful to the juniors progression in the game.
Please note that in addition to Saturday mornings and  the Junior’s  playing times there will be extra training on Tuesday afternoons between 1600-1800 from the 7th July 2009 until closing day.

Junior Members Playing Times
Mon to Sat                                             10.30 am – 12.00 pm ( Under supervision of a member )
Any other time                                      At discretion of Council.

Thank you
Bill McDonald

On the 21st of June 2009 the S.Y.B.A. held it's annual under 16's pairs competition at Hillington Bowling Club.
All clubs in the South West had entered two teams, so the tournament comprised of 16 teams with the exception of  Busby who did not participate.
Cardonald Bowling Club were represented by two teams which consisted of:

Both teams did the club proud by reaching the semi-finals.
They were just pipped at the post by the finalists Hillington & Nitshill / Hurlet.

The eventual winners were Hillington and for their achievements they will represent the S.Y.B.A. Glasgow South at the famous Northfield.
We still have a chance of representing Cardonald Bowling club at Northfield as our team of the under 16's triples  will participate at Crookston Bowling Club on Sunday the 28th of June 2009.
